Vertical Computer Systems Acquires All-American Network of Fifty U.S. State Names for Additional “Bridge” Web Sites; State-specific domain names will allow memorable Web site branding nationwide

LOS ANGELES, April 3, 2001--Vertical Computer Systems Inc. (OTCBB: VCSY), a provider of Web commerce solutions, today announced that it has completed the domain acquisition phase of its initiative to provide an expanded network of consistent, easy-to-remember, easily identified “Bridge” Web Home Country Gateways (HCGs) with names corresponding to each of the 50 states. These Bridges will operate under the umbrella of the Company’s theUSBridge.com HCG.

“Given today’s highly competitive environment for acquiring domain names, we are most pleased to have cleared appropriate domain names for each of the states, to complete our nationwide collection of Bridges,” commented Richard Wade, VCSY's President. “Now Americans everywhere will have easy access to essential information and personal communication opportunities through this new network.”

The Company has secured, cleared & registered with Register.com all 50 American state names for the new Bridges, which will be launched beginning May 1, 2001. The first of the new state Bridges, which are registered with both “.com” and “.net” extensions, will be theTexasBridge.com, chosen because of Vertical’s established presence through an e-procurement contract with Texas by iNetPurchasing.

The Company’s state Bridges, devoted to providing versatile gateways for information and communication, will offer cutting-edge technology, products and services for businesses and e-commerce while catering to users’ specific needs for state-specific content. Among other uses, the new VCSY state Bridges are intended to provide information for Americans living, working and traveling outside their home states.

Some of the features available on the Bridges will be:

    • Smart Web searching powered by EMILY™, Vertical Computer Systems’ proprietary XML technology
    • Proprietary free and unlimited e-mail
    • A free Personal Information Manager with an address book, scheduler, and online file storage

“In today’s competitive online environment, clearly-defined domain names have proven to be a major asset in marketing new Web sites,” commented Mr. Wade. “As a widely distributed enterprise, VCSY seeks to apply instantly recognizable, memorable, state-specific branding to our network of U.S. state Bridges.
